Vineyard Supervisor

CromwellBurn Cottage Vineyard is currently seeking a Vineyard Supervisor to join our permanent viticultural team at our Cromwell Vineyards located in  Lowburn and Bannockburn  . The Vineyard Supervisor is part of a small team with exposure to all aspects of the viticulture. The position will apply the viticultural plan as directed by the Vineyard Manager and with the goal of achieving high quality grapes for world class Organic/Biodynamic wine. This includes all casual and seasonal staff training and supervision as directed, with emphasis on a motivated and positive team atmosphere.  Ensuring a standard and quality of work by those under their supervision. Vine and canopy training and management, assistance with monitoring of crop and adjustment. Olive grove and farm maintenance  when required also on this property. Work alongside the vineyard manager on the biodynamic program.  Aiming to achieve all outcomes in a timely and efficient manner, with safety a priority.   Skills required: Tertiary Training in Viticulture and Practical Vineyard experience with a minimum of 3 vineyard seasons experience. A wider agricultural background would also be beneficial given our diverse site and operation. Premium winegrowing experience with Pinot Noir is beneficial due to company focus. Prior winery experience advantageous due to the close relationship between the winery and vineyard in our small business.. Experience with organics and biodynamics preferred. Good communication and the ability to work with and instruct a varied team. Motivated and with a positive attitude in our team environment. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Fit to work in outdoor environment with a range of terrain (sloped hillside and flats) Machinery experience such as forklift/ loader is an advantage. Own transportation to vineyard work sites. Usual hours per week are 40,  additional hours made available to meet this total if any days are seasonally weather affected. Guaranteed minimum hours 35. $28.00 - 29.50 $/ hour in line with experience. Plus annual leave entitlement. A New Zealand resident or hold a current New Zealand work Visa.
