Bakery Assistant Manager

We are looking for an experienced baker who would enjoy working in supermarket bakery retailing and help manage the team.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, qualities, and skills:

  • A Bakery Qualification of Level 3 or higher or extensive experience in a bakery
  • Previous management or leadership experience in a bakery or supermarket environment
  • Passionate about baking, new food trends and delivering outstanding quality products
  • Focused on providing exceptional customer service
  • An outstanding communicator
  • Experience with stock management and merchandising in a retail environment would be beneficial, as would good computer skills and knowledge of SAP
  • A reasonable level of fitness is necessary as heavy lifting, repetitive actions and continuous standing are part of this role

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assisting the Bakery Manager in training and leading a production and retail focused team
  • Ensuring the bakery department provides a superior level of customer service.
  • Preparing and baking dough, specialty breads, muffins, cakes and other bakery items
  • Presenting and merchandising the department to a high standard.
  • Assisting with all other duties that form part of the bakery operation, including stock ordering, packaging and presentation of products
  • Maintaining clean and tidy work areas
  • A commitment to our Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards.
