Distribution Assistant - One Year Fixed Term

We are looking for a Distribution Assistant, capable of juggling multiple tasks in a busy environment. Experienced in handling administrative deadlines while managing customer and circulation enquiries would be a strong advantage and excellent attention to detail and accurate typing skills are required.

The main purpose of the position is to provide support to the distribution and circulation teams and to maintain effective and efficient systems for delivery of company publications and to work closely with the company’s customers and contractors.

The hours are full-time from 7am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Bureau Chief - Gore

This full time, permanent position based in Gore plays a key role in the growth and strengthening of The Ensign, a weekly local paper established in 1878, representing the local area in the Otago Daily Times and supporting the editorial team in the Gore office. Sub-editing and layout skills would be an advantage but are not essential.

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Staff support and performance management
  • Sourcing and writing stories
  • Copy tasting
  • Meeting production deadlines
  • Point of contact for the local community and Allied Press staff

Reporter - Gore

This full-time reporter’s position involves working for our weekly publication The Ensign as well as for the Otago Daily Times and ODT.CO.NZ.

Ideally, you will have reporting experience or a journalism qualification, as well as a keen interest in news and story-telling, both in print and online.

You’ll also be keen to break exclusives, report on community news and able to work quickly and calmly under pressure to deliver stories.

Flexible hours and alternative working arrangements may be considered for the right person.
