Birchfield Coal Mines Ltd is a family owned and operated coal mining company based on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. It has been mining on the West Coast for over 40 years and currently operates two opencast coal mines. One located near Reefton, the other near Greymouth.

These mines are supported by a number of transport and logistic hubs on the West Coast and in Canterbury. Coal produced by the company is used in a variety of applications within the South Island and wider New Zealand, along with export shipments.

The West Coast offers affordable housing and unrivalled outdoor recreational opportunities. It is renowned as an untamed natural wilderness.

Job Description

Birchfield Coal Mines Ltd are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated Engineer to join the team at its Strongman Mine.

This position involves a wide range of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of our mining fleet. The successful applicant should possess:

• A relevant trade qualification
• A full drivers licence
• A good attitude and an ability to work well within a team environment.

A pragmatic approach to problem solving and dealing with operational challenges in a calm and efficient manner is considered a necessity in filling this position.
