Fairfield Farms has an exciting management role available within our Beef Finishing operation.  We require a block manager for the day to day running of our 200ha property near Burnham and just minutes from Rolleston, Canterbury. The successful applicant will manage the day to day running of the farming operation and will communicate closely with the livestock manager.

Job description

We seek a highly skilled and motivated person that is passionate about the red meat industry and will run this beef finishing unit at the highest level. Monitoring liveweight production and proactively manage pasture for the best possible outcome, finishing beef cattle to their full potential fast and 
efficiently.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• Attention to detail and take pride in completing tasks to a high standard
• A can-do attitude
• Initiative and the ability to operate independently
• Good knowledge of pasture management and feed 
  budgeting skills
• The ability to multi-task and adapt to ever-changing priorities
• Good stock and animal husbandry skills
• Own two to three working dogs under good command
• General farm maintenance skills
• Some irrigation knowledge
• Basic computer skills and record keeping
• Able to manage a small team of staff
