Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau (school at Hanley’s Farm) is seeking two dedicated and empathetic Learning Assistants to join our team. 

These are permanent, part-time positions working 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the school term.

Learning Assistant (Grade B-C)

In this role, you will work in partnership with teachers to work alongside children to support their learning and welfare. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, patience, kindness, and a high level of self-motivation. 

Specialist Learning Assistant (Grade D)
The primary purpose of this role is to provide highly specialised support for learners with complex health, behavioural, and other needs. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work independently.

To be successful in these roles, you’ll bring a combination of skills and qualities, including:

• A deep sense of empathy and patience: a natural ability to connect with and understand the diverse needs of learners.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills: build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with learners, staff, and families.
• Proactive and adaptable: a self-motivated team player who can work effectively both independently and in partnership with teachers
• A positive, solution-focused attitude: approach challenges with a calm and constructive mindset, focused on helping learners achieve their best.

Start date to be negotiated. The pay rate will be in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement. The successful applicants will be required to hold satisfactory police vetting record.
