Apex Engineering Ltd is an Oamaru based General Engineering company providing a wide range of services including machine shop, structural, factory servicing, sheet metal services and a retail shop.

In the Role of Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will be responsible for accurate cost estimation, pricing, and financial management of our engineering projects. You will play a key role in quoting and cost control, ensuring that our projects remain financially viable and competitive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed estimates and pricing for engineering projects
• Assess project specifications to develop accurate costings
• Conduct site visits and assessments to determine project requirements
• Ordering materials and equipment
• Organising subcontractors
• Working closely with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
• Track project costs, variations, and budgets

We're looking for:

• Experience in quantity surveying, estimating, or pricing
• Strong knowledge of NZ building codes, construction methodologies, and contract management
• Proven ability to analyse costs, assess risks, and provide accurate pricing
• Experience with Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills
