EXPERIENCED DRAINLAYER WANTED

Greg Donaldson Contracting Ltd (GDC) is seeking an experienced and qualified Drainlayer to join our skilled team.

About the Role:

You’ll be installing and maintaining civil drainage systems across a range of projects throughout Mid Canterbury and the South Island. 

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, offering great work-life balance in a supportive, family-oriented company.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in drainage installation and 
  maintenance
• Certifying Drainlayer qualification an advantage (but not essential)
• Class 4 licence and WTR endorsements an advantage
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative but also be a team player
• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service
• Must be NZ resident or hold a valid work visa

EXPERIENCED HEAVY DIESEL MECHANIC WANTED

We are also seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with at least 3 years’ experience to join our busy Ashburton-based workshop.

About the Role:

You’ll be responsible for fleet maintenance and repairs on a wide range of equipment — from small motors and diggers to bulldozers, trucks, and trailers. Our workshop is clean, tidy, warm, and fully equipped, offering an excellent work-life balance in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain fleet to a safe and reliable level
• Diagnose hydraulic systems and electrical faults
• Check and maintain trucks and trailers for COF (GDC have 12-month COFs)
• Maintain, service, and repair a variety of machinery and vehicles
• Keep accurate maintenance and service records

What You’ll Bring:

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in heavy diesel servicing
• Strong diagnostic, decision-making, and communication skills
• Knowledge of diesel, petrol, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Self-motivated, reliable, and a strong team player
• Class 5 licence an advantage
• Must be based in NZ with residency or valid work visa
