The majority of the island's population has been infected with a disease that causes them to become crazy flesh-eating creatures. Players must take on the role of one of four people to find out the reasons behind the disease and bust a few zombie heads along the way. The four main characters are Sam B (rapper), Xian Mei (Chinese government spy), Purna (ex-police officer) and Logan Carter (former football star). Dead Island is a first-person action role-playing horror game developed by Techland. Players will explore the open-world of Banoi and fight against some very aggressive undead and gain plenty of items to build their own weapons. The main combat emphasis is on melee combat and Dead Island has many melee weapons to choose from and you can build your own uber zombie-killing stick, bat, sledgesaw or what have you. Players gain experience by killing enemies and performing main story and side story tasks in order to unlock a multitude of character-specific skills from a skill tree.
