Powered by an 70kW electric motor, it's an ideal car for that daily commute. The 24kWhr Lithium-ion battery can be charged overnight with the charger connecting cable supplied. A second charging port allows the car to be charged at one of the fast-charge stations being installed around the country at present. Some electricity providers are offering a discount on electricity used overnight to charge the Leaf so this makes the Leaf a very economical vehicle. The NZ Govt has also exempted all-electric vehicles from Road User Charges to help reduce running costs. Performance is quite sparkling, and the Leaf comes with many safety features. It has stability control, traction control, 6 airbags, and ABS braking with Electronic Brake force Distribution.
