Help Change Young Lives for the Better

Otago, Waitaki

Opportunity to live and run a Family Home for children/young people The Ministry for Vulnerable Children Oranga Tamariki is looking for people who understand and have experience with children and young people to move into one of our family homes in Oamaru. As family home ‘carers’ you will create a safe home environment for up to five young people, whose stay could last anywhere from a few days to a few months. We need carers who are great communicators, firm, resilient, have a sense of humour and are prepared to learn. While providing this quality care, you will live rent-free and have general household costs covered. You will receive daily support, regular time off and will be remunerated for the young people you care for. This opportunity allows for one ‘carer’ to undertake full-time employment elsewhere. To apply you will need to be a New Zealand citizen or resident. We’re interested in parents or couples; but we would consider youth workers or those who are interested in care too. Please call us to find out more information about the package we can offer you. Contact Tanya McAuley - Tanya.Mcauley@mvcot.govt.nz or 03 956 4482.
